Using one account across two schools

You need one account, not two. If your children attend different schools that both use EduPrefect, they all appear together under the same sign-in, on the website and in the parent app.

There is nothing to switch between. No “change school” menu, no signing out and back in.

Each school links you separately, because each one keeps its own records.

  1. Claim the invitation from the first school as normal.
  2. Ask the second school to invite the same email address as the first.
  3. Sign in on the website first, then open the second school’s link in the same browser. The link opens in a web browser, not in the app, so being signed in to the app does not count. The page should offer Add this child to my account; tap it. Both schools’ children now appear together on the website.

⚠️ If the link offers “Set up my account” instead, stop. That means you are not signed in on the website, and going on could make you a second account.

⚠️ Step 2 is the one that goes wrong, and it goes wrong at the school’s end, not yours. A link can only be claimed by an account on the exact address it was sent to. If the second school holds a different address for you, signing in and tapping the link will simply refuse, and it will not attach the child to the wrong person.

If that happens and you have not set up an account from that link, the second school can fix it. Tell them the address you already sign in with, and ask them to put it on your record (Edit contact on your child’s page) and then send a new link with Generate invitations. Asking them to “resend” the old one will not work: a resend goes to the same address as the original invitation.

If you have already set up a second account from that link, the school cannot fix it, because it cannot change the address an account signs in with. Contact EduPrefect. We will have to sort it out by hand; there is no self-service fix yet.

⚠️ If you have a staff sign-in at any school (on the website or in the Teacher app), contact EduPrefect before you claim a link from a second school. Today staff pages and the Teacher app stop working for an account that belongs to more than one school.

On the website, Your children lists every child at every school, in one list. Each card carries the name of the school it belongs to, so two children in the same class year at different schools are never confused.

Opening a child shows that child’s attendance, fees, report cards, and forms — from their own school. Nothing is mixed between schools.

Outstanding invoices for all your children appear on one screen, grouped by school.

You can pay them one at a time, or use Pay all, which settles several invoices in a single charge — including invoices from different schools. Before it starts, it shows you how the one payment splits across each child and each school.

If Pay all tells you that one of the schools is not set up to receive online payments yet, that is about that school, not about you or your other children. Pay the rest individually and ask that school when they expect to be ready.

Behind the scenes each school is still paid separately and keeps its own record; the single charge is only about saving you from paying three times in a row.

The breakdown before any payment shows what each school receives.

Messages stay with the school they came from. A teacher at one school cannot see a conversation you are having with a teacher at another, and neither can the schools’ offices.

The same is true of everything else on your account: each school sees the children it enrols and nothing else. Being linked to two schools does not introduce either of them to the other.

A child who does not appear is nearly always a school-side link that has not been made yet. Contact the registrar at that child’s school — not the other one — and ask them to link your guardian record.
